GOTO awards scholarships in partnership with selected Public Middle schools. The scholarship covers a 4-week session at Appel Farm located in Elmer, New Jersey, for New York City scholars or a 4-week session at Camp Med-o-Lark in Washington, Maine for Boston scholars. At both camps, scholars have their choice of studying just about any art form they would like. The scholarship is renewable for up to three years, provided scholars submit a new application which shows they still meet GOTO's selection criteria in motivation, character, family support, and financial need.
The general selection process schedule is:
DECEMBER - EDUCATOR NOMINATION DEADLINE
Sixth grade teachers should identify one boy and one girl from their class who demonstrate artistic interests and nominate them for GOTO scholarships.
JANUARY - NOTIFICATION OF SCHOLARSHIP NOMINATION AND DETAILS OF INFORMATION SESSION SENT TO NOMINEES
All students nominated by educators will receive congratulatory letters and details about the GOTO information session.
MID-FEBRUARY - INFORMATION SESSIONS FOR NOMINATED STUDENTS
